WPP's AdPeople Worldwide Eyes Asia Growth

APAC- With an eye on expansion in Asia, AdPeople Worldwide, a full-service agency of WPP, looks to broaden its offering and geographic reach into Asia Pacific. The Danish-based agency led by President and COO Emre Gürsoy provides strong digital and social as well as data capabilities to clients around the world. AdPeople Worldwide is a lean global agency network, providing strong data capabilities to identify relevant digital and social channels in order to connect brand and audience across the globe.True to its Nordic origins, AdPeople stresses the power of creativity as well as operational efficiencies. “Asia is a key region for our expansion and we have a great ambition to grow our teams and operations in this part of the world. Singapore and China have been our key focus and Japan and Indonesia are our next developments,” said Gürsoy. AdPeople Worldwide features a diverse client portfolio, including global brands such as Dell, Jabra, Unilever and Saxo Bank. Part of WPP and aligned under Wunderman, AdPeople Worldwide operates as a stand-alone network with global reach and offices in Denmark, the United States, Bangladesh, India, Singapore, China and Japan. Key developments in Singapore, China and Japan Gürsoy, who is visiting the region, has already begun the process of boosting AdPeople’s presence with a succession of hires in critical markets. He will stop by AdPeople’s regional hub in Singapore to meet with General Manager Ian Chau. The two will be joined by Creative Director Renato Quaroni. Ian Chau’s career spans 18 years with in-market experience in Singapore, Beijing, San Francisco, New York, Hong Kong, Seoul and New Delhi. Chau has a deep understanding of digital communication channels, thanks to his hands-on experience. He joined from Wunderman Singapore where he was digital director. Prior to that, he led Cheil Worldwide’s regional digital team out of Singapore. Renato Quaroni is a proven leader with global experience and awards and nominations to match. He is an expert in delivering data-driven digital creative strategies. Previously based in Shanghai, he joins from AGENDA. Prior to AGENDA, he was at Nurun Shanghai and Interone BBDO in Beijing. The Singapore team works with Unilever on brands such as Pond’s and DiG (Dirt is Good). Most recently, AdPeople Worldwide designed and launched Pond’s global website. Based around Pond’s philosophy of celebrating rather than idealizing beauty, the site is an educational hub filled with value-added skincare tools and tips. Brand and product stories are told through interaction and engagement with the brand’s philosophy, history and ambassadors. Visitors can share, like, try or buy products as well as watch usage videos. The site was built using responsive design, providing unified consumer experiences across desktop, mobile and tablets. To date, the site has been deployed in China, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Mexico and Indonesia. “We always believe that creativity and efficiency should converge; the work we do for Unilever out of Singapore is a great example of our philosophy,” said Gürsoy. In China, AdPeople Worldwide opened its Shanghai office to support Unilever China with brands such as Pond’s, Clear and Cadillac. The team is led by Henry Wong, group account director. A veteran marketer, Wong has over 15 years of experience in marketing communications and has worked in various industries across Asia Pacific, including digital, finance, technology, travel and luxury. A strong leader, Wong has gained expert knowledge in brand marketing, digital strategy and social media. He spent time at Digitas, McCann and Dentsu, prior to joining AdPeople in November 2013. AdPeople Worldwide opened its Tokyo office in January 2013 and current client engagements include Unilever, with digital support for Lux. Tomohito Ohmura, senior group account director leads the team in Japan. Joining from Wunderman International, Tomohito Ohmura has more than 18 years of marketing experience in Japan, including MRM, Ogilvy Mather and Tokyu Agency
